Somarium needs an IC guide, yes?
Hey guys! So I believe a couple of players out there (including myself) have tossed around the idea of there being some sort of IC guide for the characters to have of all the information they've learned through the game. Chlor (Anguished One-mun) actually PMed a draft she made that sparked this conversation and I have permission to share as an example! Check it out here.
In the end the guide won't look like that, but it would be a basic info dump of what the characters know and don't know about Somarium.
Since the characters do learn different things in different ways at different times, I think it would be cool if a group came together to share what they have and clarify any discrepancies and misinformation that's gone around. Of course, we know the truth, but they don't, so misinformation being called as "correct" information? Totally acceptable. It's an IC guide, with the stress on the IC.
I already have Kid slated to help participate, but I wanted to know OOCly who would like to throw their characters in on this little project. Older characters would of course be more advantageous, but even those who recently arrived can join in and even pose questions to the team to ask what's what and such. Also, the information has to be ICly: obtained, inferred, and/or reasoned. There has to be some reference to how they got whatever information they had, and I'll be here to make sure that accidental metagame doesn't happen. Like I said, wrong information is A-OK, but information that was never even given out except in OOC pages not OK.
In terms of how this will be done, I'm thinking I could make an IC post asking for volunteers, but OOCly I'll set up a GoogleDoc that those signed up can come and fill in. It can be edited and people could leave comments to make sure it works, but then once we have a "final draft" drafts of sorts, we can format it and it'll be dispersed ICly. This will be done by having it like a downloadable file set on the network that anyone, both old, new, and future characters will have access to. It can also be updated and corrected as time goes on.
So if you're interested, just comment here! You can also go ahead and throw up any content of interest or questions that should probably be addressed in it.

My other chars haven't been around as long, though Sebastian I think is 2+ years and always a willing volunteer, on behalf of the Phantomhive hospitality

Feel free to put in both if you'd like!

Ryuuji might ask her, would that help?

Liz doesn't have much to contribute except "This place is insane."
Chuck's willing to help where he can. If there's a volunteer post, he'll tag into it.

"Bookah" must somehow make it in there.
DOESN'T MATTER HOW JUST MAKE IT HAPPEN :D

Also, when does Vekk get to torment you, Stripey-Bookah?
no subject
Why.
AS IF HIS CURRENT SOLO GIG WITH LIZ ISN'T TORMENT ENOUGH.

Remind me to do that should I ever throw Kid into some MMO based RP. And it should allow use of guns. Because imagine.
Death bullets.

I need necromancer!death bullet shooting!Kid in my life now.

And ironically...the MMO based game that Relle and I started developing late last year before the whole LJ-DW fiasco was running close to GW2 mechanics wise. Plotwise it was kind of like .hack but yeah.

But maybe it could work kind of like with The Secret World. That MMO doesn't have a set class system. It's more like learning to channel your magic through various weapons, picking up more advanced skills through practice. For example, Kid would probably use a combination of Pistol/Blood Magic in that world.
You mind if I hear more about this MMO-based game you were working on?

Aaah...that would be interesting and probably easier to structure RP-wise. Coming up with classes and weapon system was one of the most annoying things and made us chuck it through a wall several times.
And sure O: I'll plurk to you about it.

I also have invite keys that allow you to try the game for 24 hours if you want to take a look at it. I have an open character slot, too, so I can hop on Vent or Skype or whatever to help you learn the basics of the game. You don't have to keep it, obviously, but just to let you get an idea of how the game mechanics work. They're a bit more flexible than most games, to be honest. However, the rule of "whoever hits it first gets the loot/XP" still applies here, so I'd like to see that "assisting" mechanic from Guild Wars 2 meshed in with it.
And send me all the details! 8D

His contribution would probably go something like 'YOU'RE WRONG AND HERE'S WHY /OFFENSIVE COMMENT' though...
and looking at my list again, it might be better to recode it time wise rather than character wise. Maybe one day when I am less lazy.

And rotflmao, SPARK HEATED DISCUSSIONS I like that B)

(My only other worry here also is backtracking to all the things he's learned to find IC sources for linkage/proof. Oh gosh, what a project. Fairly certain I've been careful to only use things he's learned ICly/seen on the network/in events...)
no subject
But really if you can't find exactly links that's fine—I'll know what characters should or should not know. I'm just more concerned about people thinking the characters heard something when they didn't, so this is more of a spotcheck to help. Plus it might help players refresh their memory.

also naomi and banner are prolly going (to attempt) to investigate the mechanisms behind the dreams and how exactly they are being recorded and posted on the network by the dreamberry or w/e.
no subject
And oooh that would actually be pretty cool! We (as in us mods) can probably help you out a bit once you guys get started so you know can know what they can find.
no subject
Ooh definitely! They haven't started investigating/experimenting/etc yet but when they do you can bet I'll contact you :)
