MOON CYCLE 107 ❂ 3/25 - 3/31

Phase: New Moon. Despite the lack of moonlight, the night sky seems unusually bright. Perhaps it's because of the stars, but moonlight appears despite there being no moon.

Weather: A mix of sunny and drizzly days, but at least the temperatures are comfortable with cool desert breezes.

Effects: Depends on your egg. See event details below!

Notes: Easter has come early to Somarium—or that is what some characters may think when they wake up Sunday morning with a little "surprise." It's New Moon event and it's an interesting one (ie, this is what happens when you encourage Laena to do a certain kind of event).

  • Activity Check. Activity Check is up!

  • Welcome our new plot mod. After much delay, we have chosen our new plot mod. J will help out with organizing and running the various plots. This should help prevent the delays we've been experiencing the fast few weeks, which we apologize. With the additional helping hand, future plots should run a lot more smoothly. As a quick reminder, J is more like a mod helper than an actual "mod" mod, so if you have any game issues, refer those to us! (Laena, Mart, ally)

  • Egg in your bed. Ever had to take care of an egg and pretend it was a baby? This is kind of like that, only much different. As mentioned, characters will wake up Sunday morning to a very large egg resting beside them. Each egg is unique to the character (to be explained below), but each one will have the following note attached in plain sight:

Take good care of me, please!

Without any further explanation or instructions, this is going to be a "Learn as you go" type of process for your characters. Fortunately for you guys, we're providing the information you'll need to know. Just keep in mind that characters will not know what is happening to their egg until someone ICly experiences it themselves. So no infomodding!

    • Made just for you. There are some important things to note about your character's egg. Each one will have the following characteristics tailored to your character:
      • Special design. These aren't simple white eggs. How complicated or simple the design is is up to the player. Each egg will have different colors and decorations that will reflect something about the character. Perhaps a special mark or symbol associated with the character or their favorite color. Example, Tamaki's may have a rose or crown symbol.

      • Image of home. As the week goes on, an image reflecting the character's home will start to appear on the "front" of the egg. Perhaps an image of the character's house, a specific room, a cityscape, a landscape—something that the character will consider important. How well a character takes care of their egg will be reflected on this image. For instance, if a character takes good care of their egg, the image will be clear and happy. But if a character leaves the egg alone or pays no attention to it, the image will become darker and more twisted.

    • Absorbing dream energy. Characters will not realize this but the eggs are actually absorbing their dream energy. So the longer an egg remains intact, the more dream energy it will absorb. This is reflected by the image on the egg. But is happening to that dream energy, you ask?

Why, it's being converted into nightmare energy!

    • Don't break the egg. So what happens if you break the egg? Well it's New moon. Clearly something bad will happen. Once an egg breaks, the converted nightmare energy will appear and surround the person. This will induce the unfortunate victim to have delusions about devastation about their home.

      • Delusions. For the whole day, the character will believe that they are back home. The people they see in Somarium? Suddenly they're people from back home. Friends, enemies, random people—the character will not recognize or even see the real one. So for example, Tamaki could be under the delusion that Sealand is Honey and will treat him as such no matter what Sealand says. The same goes with buildings and locations. In that affected character's eyes, everything has changed and Somarium and everything else no longer exists in their mind.

      • But they're kind of bad. However, these delusions will reflect their world as destroyed or devastated in some way. Kid, for example, may believe that the witches have won and Madness is everywhere. Thus this will also change the character's perception and how they react to certain people.

      • The strength of the delusion. How bad a delusion is will depend on when the egg breaks. If an egg is broken early in the week, for example Sunday or Monday, the delusions will be weak and the character will see only minor damage done to their illusionary homes. But if a egg is broken later on in the week, such as Friday or Saturday, the delusion will be much more severe. Complete destruction and dead (or living dead) is a possibility. This is because more nightmare energy has been accumulated.

      • After effects. The delusion only lasts for one day, so it will go away the following day. Characters will retain memories of the experience. In addition, characters will feel sluggish and morose after the egg is broken. It does not matter when the egg breaks, from that point on the character will be under this effect.

Since the consequences are visible, it is possible for early victims to warn the others. But until then, no one will know about what would happen if they break the egg. It will be a complete surprise.

      • Cannot be snapped out. Unfortunately, affected characters will not believe anything an unaffected characters says. The only way for the delusion to wear off is to wait until the following morning.

      • Hired caretakers. It is possible for other characters help take care of someone else's egg. However if an egg breaks under their care, both the caretaker and the original owner will suffer the consequences.

      • Third party egg breakers. As hinted for the caretakers, if someone else breaks the egg, both the breaker and the original owner will suffer the consequences.

As a quick clarification, unaffected characters will see the affected character as normal. They will not see whatever the affected character sees. However, the affected's words and action will most likely cause suspicion.

And a final quick reminder, be sure to have another player's permission before the affected character starts attacking another character under the belief that they're now an enemy.

  • Bonus eggs. In addition to the large eggs, there will be smaller eggs randomly found around Somarium. They can be anywhere—on a table, hanging from the door, in a tree, in the bathtub, mixed in with actual cooking egg. Unlike their larger counterparts, however, these eggs are simpler in design—in fact they only come in one color. If a character accidentally or purposefully breaks one, matching colored smoke will appear to engulf the character. The effects are completely random and last for a day:

    • Feelin' fine. Affected characters will feel unusually cheerful and relaxed. Even a punch from a foe doesn't seem so bad.

    • Rotten egg. Characters will want to do something mean to someone. Pull a horrible prank, be unreasonably rude, slam a door in someone's face—basically anything that would make someone else miserable.

    • Sugar rush. Hyperactivity is the name for this egg effect. Characters will suddenly find themselves in a never ending excitable state, moving, talking, and thinking with increased speed. In fact, sitting still may not be possible.

    • Easter bunny. Probably one of the most random of them all, although affected characters won't turn into an actual bunny, they will suddenly find themselves with bunny ears and a tail. They may even have the urge to hop. Thank goodness it only lasts for a day, right?

  • And then... What happens to the eggs at the end of the event?

Guess you'll have to wait and see to find out~

And that should be everything. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns comment to this post!
