Since the characters are restricted to only one area of the city, we'll just give the immediate details that everyone will need to do. But we'll provide other general details that characters could hear about from the locals and then give those fleshed out details once everyone has regrouped at the end of the month.
The first group will find themselves situated in a
large, upscale resort, reflecting the city's wealth as a desert oasis city. It houses the standard services - restaurants, lounge, gym, large super pool complete with mini waterfall, spa, etc. There is even a small casino in the resort that characters could try their luck with. There are plenty of rooms to choose from and they can be single or double—your choice. In the rooms are the basic amenities: TV, mini fridge, bathroom with showers, and all with a great view outside.
Just outside of the resort is a small part of the outside that is accessible to them, but going further than two blocks out will prove to be futile as police and military officials will stop them—all saying for their safety and protocol until the others return. But in the meantime, there is a small bazaar and shop stalls situated around the streets, providing a desert city local flair. The merchants seem more sympathetic to them—though perhaps that's only because they are potential customers. Either way, though limited in what they say, they do mention a few things:
- Talk of war. While Ob Holm is safe, there are whispers of the war coming closer and that the attack on Somarium was only proof of it. There are even rumors about a city called "Endouto" though not much more can be taken out from it. Any further questioning only results in hushed lips and reassurances that everything will be fine.
- Talk of trade. Trade is a big thing for Ob Holm, and if asked where their wares came from, the merchants will happily tell of other cities that exist outside of this region. But they'll turn sour when they say that it will be slow business with the dream gates closed. Dream gates? Why yes those really exist and they can take you to other cities! So they say.
- Talk of the town. Questions about the city itself will lead to the some even offering a brochure. It features tourist maps, highlights of the town, local history, and other information. There's a catch though—it's unreadable! Due to the Dreamberry's malfunction, the automatic translator isn't working at its full capacity. Once the rest of the group joins them, however, this will change. But in the meantime, the first group will mostly learn how Ob Holm is prided on their independence. They apparently don't partake in many of the other political games that are going on, and stand alone as their own city. But a few others are less inclined to praise the city, saying that there is a darker side to it. It is also filled with thieves and vagabonds, though they stay more toward another part of the city. There lives the poor and once the restrictions are lifted, many are warned to stay away from that area.
Other than that, what the characters can actually see of the town is a very wealthy city with beautiful buildings, fountains, clean streets, and palm trees. From their resort they can even see the large oasis that helped build the city.
A reminder: The first evacuation group won't reach Ob Holm until Thursday the 26th. There will not be a log post for Ob Holm, but all posts must be action (Dreamberries don't work) and clearly marked as set in Ob Holm.
