Moon cycle 138: 11/17 - 11/23
❖ MOON CYCLE 138 ❂ 11/17 - 11/23
Phase: 1/4 Waning.
Weather: Brrr those late night temperatures are really cold! The days are a bit chilly as well. Hope everyone is stocking up on cold weather clothing! The stores are definitely putting them in stock.
Legend:
☀ - Sunny/Clear | ☁☀ - Sunny but cloudy | ☁ - Overcast | ≈ - Windy | ☂ - Rainy | ☂☂ - Stormy | ☃ - Snowy | ❇ - Ice | + any other combination
Effects: Things are crumbling, crumbling. Crumbling, crumbling. Perhaps influenced by the recent events or something else, characters will find their own dreams seeming to crumble in some way. Whether it just abruptly end and shatter like a mirror shattering, or whether the events of the dream itself have things crumbling or melting away. (These are of course optional!)
Notes: Quick note before diving in—information about the upcoming New Moon cycle is touched on here as next weekend is going to be big. So please read!
Final Battle!?!?!??! Hahahahaha...
No.
Well slight lie. For Nitiri, yes. And it will be an epic boss battle. Everything Tom said has been true up to this point, and on Saturday, November 24 characters will have that chance to finally duke it out. Even if they don't want to fight, Nitiri will want to fight them. After all, they have such delicious amounts of dream energy in them. Talk about walking right into the lion's den.
Spoilers: characters will win, Nitiri will die.
Does this mean they get to go home?
Well...no. If you're wondering if we hit end game, it is to our great delight to tell you that we have not and are still not even close. This will end Nitiri's chapter (in a very abrupt and suspicious way), but it will start our next chapter.
Note: The battle log will actually be posted on Friday, November 23 to allow those who are fully enjoying the Thanksgiving break more time to thread. However the battle itself only takes less than a day so ICly the characters will enter and leave within 24 hours.
Turning the page. Starting in the new year, we'll be shifting focus of Somarium's premise and mechanics to make it much more dream oriented. That is to say, these dreams will have a more of a purpose and will effect things a lot more than they have in the past. Dreamwalking will also be more important and events will cater more toward them. You've seen a little of what the dreams can do—Somarium's rebuilding for example. Expect more and a lot more character influence and involvement in the future. (Who knows, maybe even just one character's dream could change things...) Of course, this is all in line for the next conflict.
One that will definitely directly affect the characters—and their worlds.
That's all we have to say on it, though. We'll give more details as well as what will happen after Nitiri's battle in the next Moon cycle. We do still have the New Moon to get through after all~
That should be it. Should you have any questions, feel free to ask them here.
IF YOU PLAN ON PARTICIPATING IN THE BATTLE! Just comment in here so we can get an idea of how many will be there and for plotting purposes. So feel free to use this post.

- The crumbling continues. Is it just me or does the word "crumbling" look weird now? Surely its effects looks weird to the characters. At first had been minor. Just a little piece here, a little crack there. But now it's very noticeable. Again, no structures are going to completely collapse on anyone, but more damage is apparent. The small cracks are growing larger, bits of walls starting to suddenly cave in, more shingles or tiles falling off from roofs and ceilings. The cracks will probably be the most abundant and will certainly cause some worry.
- So that caller. A few days ago, a mysterious caller who went by the name "Tom Marley" made a call and basically suggested that everyone should go out and find Nitiri themselves. To those who responded or listened in, what do you think? Should they go out? Or not do anything? For those who do wish to go out, he told some other bits of information: there is a dream gate that led straight to Nitiri's lair. Getting a little more suspicious, huh? He even is saying that by destroying Nitiri, they will be helping rid the world of a dangerous threat but also receiving access to a dream gate that could send them home. Sounds way too good to be true doesn't it?
But if any groups of characters or even those who individually curious want to try and find it, there is a way.- Under the bridge... Just outside the lighthouse, underneath a very small bridge that goes over a small ditch, covered by a lot of brush and debris, and in other words concealed very well, is a large wood door. It'll be a little tough to open due to the years of never being used, but a few good pulls and a crowbar will pry it open. There explorers will find steps leading down to...
- ...through the tunnel... As one would expect, the steps lead into a dark tunnel. There are no lights so flashlights, torches, or some other source of light will be needed. The only threats found inside are a couple of large bugs (dog sized), bats (normal), and rats (like the ones in New York). All of these can easily be taken care of—in fact they may just run away. It goes quite a ways, though, and at the end...
- ...into the depths of the sea(??). Well, no sea. But toward the end of the tunnel they'll start seeing a very strange, glowing light shimmering upwards. And once they are the edge, they will find themselves staring out into a large abyss. Congratulations, you've found a way into the sinkhole! That's right, this tunnel leads to the sinkhole and several hundred feet down into it. Looking over the edge will reveal that there are several thousand, perhaps even a mile more of it below. But they will also find the source of the light. It's hard to see exactly what it is, but there seems to be something way deep down there that is casting off a bright, iridescent light. There's no way to reach that area—not unless someone has a really long rope. Though if someone could fly down, they could get pretty far—until the atmospheric conditions make it even more difficult.
But we'll tell you what it is—it's condensed dream energy in liquified form. Should a flier be able to go down, they'll be able to see that it is a liquid-type substance with an iridescent surface. Almost like a very pretty, colorful lava. Good thing they can't go any farther—falling into it would likely cause instant death (ah, that's a good warning to have, too—don't fall :D). But how would your characters know that's what it is? Just ask Ryan or Aisling, they'll be happy to inform them of it (and look surprised that they don't know that). - Oh but there's a gate. Tom said to go into the depths of the sea, but fortunately no one should have to experiment falling into it. There's a dream gate just a few hop and a skip away on a floating platform just a few feet away from the edge. There are floating rock-like platforms that lead to it, but they are also easily reachable. Careful though—there are some gaps in-between. And well what do you know. At the very top of the gate, the following words are etched in:
DREAMGATE #000000
DESTINATION: NOCTAERIUM
For those who were at the haunted castle and managed to reach the top, this should look familiar. In fact, it's that very same gate! Guess when the castle fell into this sinkhole, the dream gate had detached. in the process. Or had it been here prior to the fall...? The world may never know. Not that it matters.
However, though this gate could be found at any time prior to next week, it will not activate or work until the New Moon. How will the characters know? Tom is telling a few people in his call, so hopefully some are paying attention or will be notified. - To Nitiri?? And that, my friends, will indeed take you to Nitiri. On Saturday, November 24, those who go through the portal, whether on purpose or on accident, whether they wanted to actually find her or just wanted to see if what Tom said was true, they will be dropped right in the middle of Nitiri's own home. Uh oh.
