Ideas, ideas, ideas! Is there anything in particular that you'd like to see happen in Somarium? Got a few ideas bubbling but not sure how to implement it? Let us help you with that. We will be putting up an plots meme on Saturday to help get those creative juices flowing. Who knows, maybe someone will be able to help some of your own player plots going.
CR Meme. The CR meme is supposed to be making an appearance this month but due to some new scheduling, it will be pushed to next month, together with the next test drive meme.
Dream Energy Report. Ryan and Dick have a few things to say about how the dream energy is working. The new moon is next week, after all...even though Nitiri has been vanquished, nightmares still exist. Will anything happen? Or nothing? The suspense!
Dreamwalking. This week there are once again no external dream effects. At least thematically. Instead, since Aisling has reminded everyone that dreamwalking is possible here, characters are encouraged to practice with interactive dreams or may find themselves being pulled into dreams upon viewing. For those new, here's a quick refresher on how dreamwalking works:
- Interactive. The dreams themselves are different in that both the dreamer and anyone inside the dream can move freely about and are completely conscious. Think about it as lucid dreaming in a whole new level (or Inception—by the way, we were first B|). They are very similar to writing your very own world/setting scenario, and those with better control will be able to do more in terms of creativity. It is also possible for an interactive dream to start off as a normal dream, but then at some point it switches. So a character can first be dreaming of performing in a concert when aliens suddenly invade. At that point characters can come in and basically "finish" the dream with the dreamer.
- Pulled in. A character can either willingly go into someone's dream or accidentally. At this point, most people are probably going to enter accidentally. This can be done either when they are also asleep or if they are viewing from the Dreamberry. In either case, the character feels a strange tug as if some forcing is pulling them and are literally thrown into the dream. For those who were watching via Dreamberry, this means they'll instantly fall asleep.
- DREAMER has the control. No matter what, the dreamer is in control of the dream. Other characters can only interact and participate, but they cannot by themselves alter the dream. Can they influence the dreamer to do something? Not forcefully, so no mind manipulation. The dreamer also has the ability to expel characters out of the dream, which force the other character to awaken.
- Posting. Unlike normal dreams, interactive dreams are posted in somarium. This is because these posts are more like logs than network ones. Don't worry if you mis-post, but try to remember!
- OPTIONAL. Cannot stress this enough. This entire process is optional for those who may not feel up to participating in dreamwalking yet. It is possible for characters to just view the dream on their Dreamberry and it will play like any other dream. They can respond to dreams just like normal as well.
A souvenir. Once again, upon waking the characters will be bringing back a little souvenir with them. This time it's just an object or a reminder of some kind of their dream, and they can hold it. It will also remain in existence for the whole day before disappearing.
